In these times of sudden weather changes the weather people fail to predict, it is prudent to be ready for such emergencies, as when you have to seek temporary refuge in some unlikely places because of rising floodwaters too dangerous for your vehicle to negotiate. You might have to let the waters subside first before continuing on your road trip, so you may have to wait out a whole night for the flood to subside.

Like the portable heater that you had to bring with you in your vehicle in the winter season, the air mattress beds now is as necessary in the summer months. Sleeping outside of your vehicle may be possible in summer so you can just lay out your portable bed to enjoy the fresh air outside. If the cause of your stranding though is the rain, you might just content yourself sleeping in a cramped position inside your vehicle.

Now that it is vacation time for your kids, your youngest boy who is the most inquisitive on why you travel always to the countryside could nag you in taking him along in one of your trips. The other elder kid might also join in the clamor for them to tag along with you, reasoning that they are bored at home, and would want to experience a trip with you.

Mom would of course join in the discussion to help convince you to approve the boys’ request, secretly her way of getting rid of them for a few days, and allow her some peace in the kitchen. You finally raise your hands in surrender, and you ask the older boy to take out two more of the air mattress beds from the attic and place them in the back of the van before nighttime, ready for the jump off early the following morning. You could hear the shouts and Indian hoots of the boys in glee as they rush up to the attic to get the portable cot beds.

You start looking at your wife’s wide grin, and ask her if she wants to dance too with glee like the boys. You just both laugh aloud as you help her do the dishes in the kitchen.

The next day’s trip with the boys will of course be a new experience for you too, having been alone in your many trips before. You remind the wife to pack up some ready to eat snacks for the morrow’s trip especially because you will have two growing boys with you who could be looking for food now and then while you are on the road.
